I recently had a problem when upgrading the platform on two sites from version 9.9.1 to 9.10.0 or 9.10.1. When starting the upgrade installer, I immediately got a yellow screen of death saying "Server Error in '/' Application". For all the other sites the upgrade worked fine.

To solve the problem, I started the installer in a browser on the server to get a more detailled error message, and it said the assembly system.web.http version 5.2.7 or one of its dependencies could not be loaded. The file (system.web.http.dll) existed in the bin directory, so I inspected it, and found out it was version 5.2.3 - so something must have gone wrong with a former update, I guess.

The solution was quite easy: I copied the file from another installation running DNN 9.10.1 to the bin directory of the failing site(s) - and voilà, the upgrade (and the site after upgrading) worked fine. I am not sure, if this was everything that failed, but I did not get any more errors on these sites yet.

Just in case this helps someone...

    Happy DNNing!
    Michael
