After upgrading locked out

    Hello,  i was locked out as the host after i did the latest upgrade, how do i get back in? Any help would sure be gratley appreciated!

      i also tried to use the password reset, nothing has come back to my inbox, i set the email server to run globally on all sites. Can this account be found in the SQl?  i know at one time we used the webconfig file back in the day, is it still the same?

        Arley,

        I would try the following:

        1) Register a user through the interface
        2) Go to the database (using SSMS or whatever tool you can use)
        3) Find the new user in the Users table and change the value of the column IsSuperUser to 1
        4) Restart the application pool
        5) Log in as the new user - this is a host user now. You can change the password for the original host user now.
        6) Log out, and log in as the original host user with the new password. You may now set back the new user to a normal user or delete it or keep it as a test user or whatever.

                Wow. What a great column to target in an SQL injection attack. I hope DNN is secure.

                  Well, DNN itself is secure against SQL injection, and so are all modules that follow the suggested/required patterns (ie DAL/DAL+/DAL2). Except you place the SQL module on a public available place ;-)

                  But this can't be guaranteed for every third party module. Therefore you should test the module before you use it. And Open Source modules have the advantage that you might check the source code.
