Host User Unable to Login after Update

After a successful upgrade from 9.1.1 to 9.3.4, enroute to 9.6.2. Thie original host account (UserID = 1) that was used to build the site can no longer login. Other Superuser accounts can login.

When sending a reset password email, the account can reset the password and login, but after logging out, the account cannot login again. When the account attempts to login, it fails but nothing is going to DNN Admin Logs.

In comparing this account to other accounts, I notice there are no entries in the User Roles table for UserID = 1. I am unable to set any roles through the admin pages, it does not find the host account in the drop down to add to roles.

Does 9.3.4 now enforce that users must have a user role entry to login? If I can't add a role via the UI, can I simply add a role via  SQL?

Is there anything special about the original host account (userid = 1) that would prevent me from deleting the account and recreating it?

    Thanks.

If other superusers can login, use one of those accounts to edit the problem user.

The host account is just another user. You'll need to be able to make it a superuser, either using SQL or another superuser account.

FYI, a host / SuperUser is normally not a member of any of the user roles.

Thank you Joe and Timo for the responses.

After completing the upgrade path to 9.6.2, using my alternate super user account, I went to fix the original host account and found it is working again. Sadly, I have no explanation why it was failing after the interim update.

          Thanks for your assistance.
