Website automatically redirecting to https

New Around Here

I'm trying to migrate my DNN install to a new server since my old install is on 2008R2. I restored the database on the new server, copied all the files, and everything appears to be runnin smoothly. However, since this is a test move, I'm unable to use our normal website name (www.domain.com) and I have to use dnndev.me. The problem I'm having is, dnndev.me automatically redirects to https, giving me can't reach this page error. I went back to my production website and unchecked the secured paged box, as well as the SSL enforced box. Then, I re-restored the database. I also went in to the Portal Alias table and replaced the primary with dnndev.me. All permissions seem to be correct but it keeps redirecting to https. I removed this line of code from the web config and recycled my app pool which should have cleared the cache. What am I missing?

    rewrite
                rules
                    rule name="Company redirect" enabled="false" stopProcessing="true"
                        match url="(.*)"
                        conditions
                            add input="{HTTPS}" pattern="^OFF$"
                        conditions
                        action type="Redirect" url="https://{HTTP_HOST}{REQUEST_URI}"
                    rule
                rules
            rewrite

    Thanks,

      .

There a big chance that this is browser caching. If you had a 301 and you remove it you mostly need to clear the browser cache to get rid of it.

dnndev.me is for sure not SSL based - it is just an alias for localhost and it depends on your IIS website bindings, which protocol to use.

Yeah, this sounds like a caching issue. I'd suggest using a different browser altogether, in private/incognito mode, after flushing your DNS locally.

In addition, you should check and manage the primary domain name/alias in the PortalSettings table to match the other updates you're making.
