Storing DNN Cache in Redis instead of default DNN file

New Around Here

Hey all! I'm relatively new to DNN, and there are some performance issues with dynamically loaded information from .xlsx files. We think it will be beneficial to have DNN cache these items to Redis instead of the local file, and I've searched pretty extensively, but haven't found how to fit the pieces together. Any help or even a point to where I can read further into the DNN/Redis connection underbelly would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

DNN includes several caching options, on input (usually from database) and output (for rendered context of static modules and pages). Location (and implementation) of output caching is performed via providers - DNN comes with output providers to store data in files or memory. Input caching is usually in memory. If you need to cache custom data read from a file, your custom module would need to implement this caching. For your Excel file, the problem might be the driver being used to access the file.
