    DNN Install - no formatting

I'm installing DNN v9.10.0 manually, not using nvQuicksite as that failed to work.

I'm using Windows 10 Home and SQL Server 2019. I've got the installation wizard to display, but I noticed that none of the formatting is displaying on the page, none of the pictures and scripts work, which seemingly prevents me from moving on.

I've clearly not set something up right but I'm not sure what, any ideas?

Did you unblock the ZIP file before extracting? Could you see any errors during extraction? And have vou granted Modify permissions for the IIS application pool throughout the file structure?

      Happy DNNing!

I didn't have any trouble with the zip file.

I went through the IIS installation again and noticed I hadn't ticked "basic autorisation" which I fixed, but it doesn't seem to have impacted anything.

I've given modify permission to Network Services, I can't tell if that's the correct group to give access to though.

I'll try extracting the folder again and see if that changes anything.

        - edit

Re-extracted the files, reapplyed access to Network Services and IIS Users and I'm back to no formats and no working scripts

Network Services is "old school". You should use the Application Pool Identity (for the file permission and as a DB user, when SQL Server is installed on the same machine).

Eg if your (IIS) Application Pool is named "DnnDev", then the account to use is "IIS AppPool\DnnDev".

Also make sure that in the settings for Anonymous Authentication (in IIS Manager), "Application Pool Identity" is set as anonymous user authentication credentials, and the application pool has set "ApplicationPoolIdentity" as the identity (advanced settings).

          Happy DNNing!

Thanks Michael, that seems to have solved the issue

For anyone wondering, I couldn't see the IIS account to add, I had to just type it in and click "check name".

The settings for Anonymous Authentication were under Authentication and they did need to be changed to "Application Pool Identity" from "Specific User"
