Prevent Files and Folders Table Entries to be deleted permanently on sync (SoftDelete)

New Around Here

Because of the circumsstance that a clients Fileservers are sometimes not reachable, a custom module that tries to find files on PageLoad of this Modul fails to load.

The reason is that in the meantime the Filesystem may be synced by an user via the Asset management (Website-Files/Folders) and the Folders and Files are deleted in the Folders- and Files Tables after Sync.

So the FileIDs stored in the db-records of the module do not longer exist and even after getting the fileserver up again, and syncing the filesystem - the files and folders get a new ID which does not match the stored ids

Because the developer of the module (and the source) is no more reachable this may become a challenge to solve in the module code ...

Is there any way to manage that file-records and folder records are not deleted on sync but instead are marked as "dirty" or "invalid"
So we would be able to "reactivate" them after such situations and dont lose the references to the files in the modules db-tables

Any help is highly appreciated - even just ideas that point me in the right direction to solve that

thanks in advance and kind regards

    Don

Unfortunately, DNN assumes the file system to be always present and permanently deletes the file entry, when syncing files and database. Please submit an enhancement request at https://github.com/dnnsof.../Dnn.Platform/issues - however, it will require someone to take up this task.
