New Around Here

    Hello,

In our website we have over 1000 pages, we want to localization for few pages only, not all pages need to be translated. We do not want to duplicate all the pages as normally DNN suggests. We want to be able to view the site completely in another language as well. We saw DNN has feature of making page neutral which should allow the page to be viewable in other language. But we noticed for the pages which we leave neutral, langauge selector changes back to english, which means it cannot find the page in other language and hence fallback to default language. I think this is wrong as we are delebrately making the page neutral so there would not be its duplicated page. Can any one suggest if I am doing some thing wrong here?

Also if there way I can make whole website neutral at once (I think we should be able to do this via some sql script, but I dont prefer to use this appraoch as it is can corrupt database) and then I can add duplicate pages for which I want to do translation.

Also I noticed that for the pages we create localized pages, the HTML module permissions are not copied from english page. We need to manually give permissions again, is there any other approach or solution for this issue.

    Regards,

With the core localization you can also only translate a few pages.
You do that in the page settings.
I think the only option to make all pages neutral is by turning localization off, but make a backup before as on large sites, this does not always work without issues. Or use SQL as you mentioned.

The fact that the settings are per language is "by design". It's very flexible that way, but on some sites more work as you noticed.

You could also use a module that in inself is multi lingual like https://opencontent.readme.io/

That allows you to use only neutral pages.
BTW a neutral page should show other flags too if those languages are enabled.
