    DNN 09.10.02
    .Net Framework 4.8

Can not install/upgrade DNN or extensions due to dll files in BIN directory 'in use/locked' error:

"The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process"

Have triple checked permissions for app pool in DNN directory structure, I an attempt to solve the issue I have applied Full Control to the Application Pool Group as well as replacing entries on all child objects.  I've stopped and re started IIS service as well as clearing cache and re starting DNN.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried to stop the application pool before unzipping the package, and did you unblock the zip file before extracting?

      Happy DNNing!

Michael- Thanks. Yes the zip is unblocked. I have used the install module and uploaded directly from local machine as well as loading in the Install>modules directory for this instance. I am still thinking that there is a permissions issue and can't get to the bottom of it....so far.

One of the things that I do right after unzipping the upgrade over the site is to "reset" the permissions of the App Pool by pulling up the properties of the folder of the instance, under permissions, for the App Pool that I'm using I'll uncheck and recheck one of the permissions. This is typically prior to running the upgrade but after the unzip.

forgot to mention I also do this "reset" of the security on the folder after the install is complete too.
