M365 support for sending email? Legacy SMTP Username/Password to be retired

    Thanks for logging a GitHub issue for it. I'll keep an eye on it.

    For a commercial app that I'm involved in, we've had to do the following:

    1. Create an admin screen that allows the user to choose to use either Gmail, M365, or direct SMTP email (while it lasts)
    2. If M365 is selected, the user needs to specify the tenant, appID and secret. This option requires that they have previously configured an Azure tenant "app registration", given it the appropriate API/Email permissions, restricted the permissions via Powershell / Exchange Online, and generated a secret key. It's a hassle, but effective.
    3. GMail configuration is a similar concept, although slightly different config.

    It's a lot more work to configure an app registration, and I doubt many will go for it...

      Personally, I do prefer the app registration route.

        No, the MS-side of things to create an app registration, set the permissions, generate the "app secret", and adjust permissions via a Powershell script to limit the scope of the permission is manual only.  You really wouldn't want any of that stuff to be able to be automated due to the security implications.

          I am in the same boat. My company uses Office365 and while we have been tying into SMTP via basic auth to an Office 365 account that had send-as rights, that is coming to an end in October by Microsoft.
