Hello all,
We side-graded from DNN Evoq to Platform Edition 9.10.2 a few months ago, and recently we have noticed issues between edit mode and live (non-edit) mode in HTML modules. Sometimes after we publish updated HTML module content, the updated content is visible only in edit mode and the old content continues to display in live mode. Sometimes this updated content is only visible in live mode and the old content continues to display when we go into edit mode.
We don't have this problem with any of the other modules we use on the site, only the HTML module. Is this a known issue and is there a fix or workaround to resolve? We have previously reported another issue with the HTML Module (where it won't display the file folders when you click Browse Server). Is it possible this may be related?
Thanks for any help - this has been a big problem for us!
Heather
Posted By H. Hugh-Jones on 10/7/2022 12:53 PM Sebastian and Will, Thanks for taking the time to reply, especially on a Friday. I checked module settings and they are set to Direct Publish and Apply Workflow to Module. Could you suggest any other module or site settings to check? Thanks, Heather
Then the content is not published yet. If you have access to query the database, you'll want to search for all of the content for that ModuleID only in the HtmlText table and make sure the most recent version you expect to see has "1" for the value in the IsPublished table, and not "0."
Posted By H. Hugh-Jones on 10/11/2022 7:32 AM Hi Mariette and Will, thanks for the suggestions! The content is published. We can see the new content when we access the site through its IP address. (ie both in edit mode and outside edit mode there). The problem is when the site is accessed through its public-facing domain name: HTML module content in edit mode doesn’t match what is outside of edit mode there. I’d like to update our sitewide cache settings to see if that will help shake things loose on the domain side. I’ve located this article from Mitch Sellers: https://cdn.iowacomputerg...-overview-202007.pdf Are there any other cache-related documents specifically for Platform that might help?
Oh.... Then do you have a CDN or firewall (WAF) in front of your website? It sounds like either one of those or your web browser might have cached the content. You'll want to clear cache at each level.
The DNN cache usually organically refreshes somewhat regularly, so if the DNN cache was the issue, then it should have seemingly gone away in a day or so. However, clearing the cache can be tried. A reference link to do this is below.
Oh, one more thing...
The cache settings for your website may or may not be getting in the way. Be sure to double-check the following when you're looking at the Servers > Server Settings > Performance configuration view in the persona bar.
If you want to change either value, I'd suggest changing Unauthenticated Cacheability to Public. However, this is not likely to be your fix right now.
