Hi, My project is to create a markdown-based wiki with an unusual permissions model. (Basically, there is one common page that everyone can add links to and then they each have their own "sub-tree" they can do what they want with but no one else can edit.) My question is what parts of this are already available as either built in functionality or extendable/hackable modules? I'm new to DNN and I don't want to reinvent the wheel. Thanks
Welcome! :)
I think the closest solution you'll have to what you're already looking for might be the DNN Wiki module. This module isn't really maintained these days, but it's a solid start for anyone that wishes to have and/or build their own wiki on their website.
I always have trouble defining Wikis :-) It is basically a page(s) that multiple people can edit. In a secure setting (like in a company) I have even created some pages where every one in a certain role was allowed to edit. Just creating a role an grant persmissions was sufficient. I the number of people is limited (say 20) you could create a page for each and grant roles.
Now, if you want more control and have a workflow, I would suggest to take a look at https://www.mandeeps.com/...s/live-knowledgebase . This would allow you to moderate content.
If you want more afvanced stuff but not a developer, you can take a look at the combo Live Forms / Live visualizer or the Plant an App suite. Developers can probably come a long way with 2SXC or OpenContent.
