Hey friends.
First attempt on installing DNN on windows server 2022 (on my first windows server install at home). Somehow a lot seems different from windows 11 in terms of file permissions and I'm getting a lot of issues on a restored install.
I have a drive/DNN folder with /Website and /Database folders. So:
c:/ d:/ ------ MyProjectName ----------------- Databases --------------------------------- something.mdf --------------------------------- something.ldf --------------------------------- somethingelse.mdf --------------------------------- somethingelse.ldf ----------------- Website --------------------------------- admin --------------------------------- 403-3.gif
As soon as I accessed the site, I got a lot of issues, including files not changing or saving, so I forced the app pool user into all Website files, and everything seemed to be working.
However, security module is clearly no happy with my lax permissions and reports: D:\MyProjectName - Read:Y, Write:Y, Create:Y, Delete:N,D:\ - Read:Y, Write:Y, Create:Y, Delete:N,C:\ - Read:Y, Write:Y, Create:Y, Delete:N
Also: Current SQL Server account can execute xp_dirtree which can see the server's folders structure.,Current SQL Server account can execute xp_fileexist which can detect whether files exist on server.
Can anyone share a proper structure permission for these three folder levels and files? I only use a local admin account, the iis app pool user, and sql server 2022.
Also, what permissions should I give the app pool user in sql server? Clearly not dbo. Should I create a new user and specify a login instead of using integrated autentication?
Thanks.
