Upgrading DNN

New Around Here

I have never installed/updated DNN.  I have never set up a website.  I enherited our companies site.  I see the "Critical Update" red bar above the DNN Icon.

I think I'm running V7.02.00 but am not even sure of this.  When I clicked on the DNN Icon it took me to a page that showed 7.02.00 then had me redirect to the DNN community site.

Not sure if I can jump from my current version to the latest version.

Not sure if it will break anything else (extensions etc...).  Not sure how to check what extensions might be associated with our website.  The upgrade might be a simple process, but I'm not sure.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

      Joel,

the upgrade process is quite simple, I describe it here the fast way, but please refer to https://www.dnndocs.com/c...s/index.html to get more information, and mind the suggested upgrade path.

First: Make a backup of your site and database.

Download the upgrade package (make sure that you don't use the install package!), unblock it and unzip it over the existing installation, overwriting existing files.

Then navigate to your site in a browser. If the upgrade process does not start automatically, navigate to http(s)://[MYWEBSITE]/install/install.aspx?mode=upgrade.

Enter the username and password of a system administrator (host), and wait until the process has finished.

      Happy DNNing!
      Michael
