Over the past four weeks, the DNN Technology Advisory Group has continued its regular cadence of conversations focused on strengthening the DNN Platform and improving how we communicate changes to the broader community.
This month's meeting schedule was abbreviated a bit due to travel and summer-time activities; however, lots of activity is still ongoing.
Meeting Summaries
On Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026, and June 16th, the Approvers Group met in furtherance of long-term project support with a few key areas of discussion
-
Continued the review and approval of items to prepare for the DNN 10.3.3 release, which is targeting a Release Candidate either the week of June 29th, or July 6th.
-
Discussed the included changes and release plan for DNN 10.4.0 which will include multiple pending community contributions (More on this in the "Upcoming" section below)
-
Coordination with the MVC Pipeline group to break the pending MVC contributions into blocks that can be reviewed safely to confirm community fitness. Thanks to Peter Donker's assistance with this we have actually identified a number of unexpected breaking changes that would have been introduced by these changes which is exactly why this process happens. I will be coordinating the upcoming weeks a video or other post with Peter to help showcase a bit of what we do when reviewing and why the Pull Request process is so critical.
-
Worked to identify the suggested "additional testing" steps that will be included with the DNN 10.3.3 release per the prior month's discussions regarding better RC testing guidance..
At this time, there are no publicly actionable items resulting from these meetings, but the discussions are helping shape the future roadmap and communication improvements.
On Tuesday, June 23rd, the Community TAG Group convened with the broader community. Discussion topics included:
-
Discussed the upcoming release plans & cadence for the 10.3.3 and 10.4.0 releases
-
Held open questions to the community regarding priority concerns or action items for the group. There were no action items raised at this time that are not otherwise discussed.
-
Discussed possible upcoming changes to the GitHub structure and ways to better leverage .NET Foundation provided resources to improve the support for the DNN Community.
Additional Upcoming Release Details
As I mentioned above, we have two releases forthcoming within the next 4-8 weeks.
DNN 10.3.3 - This release currently includes 53 individual contributions, including backend dependency updates, community-reported bug fixes, security enhancements, and several smaller quality-of-life improvements, such as debug mode changes to improve static file caching.
DNN 10.4.0 - This release already has a number of key enhancements ready to merge in once the 10.3.3 release has been completed and validated as stable. At this time we will have a few major dependency updates that were not safe to completed in 10.3.3, a new logging framework that will drastically improve the logging experience within DNN Platform with the inclusion of Serilog to replace the existing solution, Async support for MVC Controllser, Enhanced page header tag management functionality, and bulk installation processes. More items may arrive prior to the Release Candidate as well! Many things to look forward.
NOTE: The above is the current plan and expected items; the exact release plan may change as time goes on.
We’d love to have more community members involved in these conversations. The DNN Technology Advisory Group meets every two weeks at 2:00 PM Central Time. If you’re interested in joining future calls, please email Mitchel Sellers to be added to the invite list.
