Congrats on posting!

Hi everyone,

I’m currently exploring Single Sign-On (SSO) options in DNN and would like to understand the possibilities around enabling multiple Identity Providers (IdPs) within a single DNN portal.

Specifically, I’d appreciate your insights on the following:

  1. Is it possible to enable and configure multiple IdPs (for example, Azure AD, Okta, Google, Auth0, etc.) for the same portal?

  2. What are the authentication provider extensions or modules currently available that support modern protocols like OpenID Connect, OAuth2, or SAML 2.0?

  3. Which providers are the community’s preferred or most stable options for production environments?

  4. Are there any known limitations or best practices when using multiple IdPs together?

My goal is to explore configuration-based approaches (without custom development) that support flexible SSO setups for different user groups.

Looking forward to your recommendations and any real-world experiences you can share.

Thanks in advance for your help! 🙏

It is possible to configure multiple providers using the DNN platform, and typically for each enabled platform you will see a new tab on the login interface.
Not all authentication providers created enable/support this behavior so it will depend on the ones that you select as to how they work.
From my experience, with support and maintenance, I would strongly suggest LIMITING the number of enabled providers as the need for testing, support, and diagnostic behaviors goes up with each of the added providers that you create.

As for recommendations it would depend on your targets.

Thanks a lot for the clarification!

That makes sense, especially the point about increased support and testing overhead when multiple providers are enabled. I’ll keep that in mind.

Just to dig a bit deeper:

  • Have you come across any specific authentication providers that work well with multiple-IdP setups, especially those supporting modern protocols like OpenID Connect?

  • Also, are there any particular limitations or edge cases you’ve encountered when enabling more than one provider?

Appreciate your insights! 🙏
