Paywall content

Hi,

I am using DNN 9.3.2 and Evoq 9.3.7.

I would like to paywall content in a section of the website with teaser content i.e. so that they can read a part of the article but need to pay/ log in to access the content. 'Members' would also need to be able to log in and bypass the paywall. Users would idealy be able to manage their account from here. The paywall would also need to be able to handle a complex pricing model i.e. different prices for different user types, possibly different content available for different user types.

Would anyone be able to advise how best to do this with DNN/ Evoq, and which modules from DNN store (if any) would be useful?

Thanks

There are several scenarios here.
The most simple one is to use EasyDNNNews. It has the option to offer paid content. https://www.easydnnsoluti...easydnnnews/features

Another one is Live Storefront if your content is like digital downloads.

And of course there is the custom version.
This is where you want the low code suite from Plant an app

You're an MVP!

An ecommerce solution should do the work, beside Tyycho's suggestion there is OpenStore which is Open Source and free. But maybe EasyDNNNews is more the out-of-the-box solution you want...

Thanks Tycho and Michael, that's really helpful :)

If I use something such EasyDNNNews or OpenStore - as these are standalone modules would they sit separate to the rest of the website, and would it be easy to rollback from using these if I decided to stop paywalling content?

if there are no appropriate DNN modules for a content paywall, and we wish to connect with a 3rd party provider, likely via API connection (for example this one https://pigeonpaywall.com/ ), would you know the best approach to integrate with 3rd party APIs? Would we need to build a custom module for this?

Thanks very much!!

Both are so called extensions, in this case modules. You may place them on one ore more pages (tabs), and if you uninstall them they are gone, this should normally not affect the rest of your DNN installation (but better make a backup before).

Anyway, I would create a testing environment (just a copy of your website and database on a local server or a local machine) and try. OpenStore is free anyway, and there is a free trial for EasyDnnNews. I don't know the exact conditions for that trial, some vendors make it for a limited time period, some trials only work on "localhost" etc. You should check out the conditions in this case.

Happy DNNing!

Thanks Michael! I have a question - having looked at the solution mentioned (EasyDnnNews), I'm not sure if I would need to source and pay separately for a checkout and to integrate payment providers such as paypal, stripe etc? Do you know how I would find this out?
It seems that these are included in the Live Storefront option but not sure if they are in EasyDnnNews?
Thanks :)

On https://www.easydnnsoluti...nt-in-easydnnnewsyou can read more about paid content.
As in this article they assume you are enrolled in a certain role after payment, but do not explain why/how.

What I would do is send a mail to [email protected] and ask if they can take care of that. Their prices are very reasonable and response is swift.
