After installing 09.01.00 on my own site--which has ~20K users--I was very unhappy with the performance of the brand-new avatar refresh queue. I usually stress-test against my own site, but somehow that slipped by. This new version corrects the performance issue. As always, if you encounter issues, or have questions, please open an issue on GitHub.
