The DNN Community Forums module has been chugging along for a while now, and so it's about time for a release. This release brings with it what I estimate to be over 100 hours of work across at least 4 people. Numerous things have been fixed, but we need your help before we can make this release official.

What Are the Community Forums?

Just in case you might be new to the community, well... Welcome! Also, the Community Forums module is the official module used for hosting a forum-style discussion on your DNN-based website. Members can create posts, reply, and so on.

Release Candidate 1: Version 07.00.00

This is a release candidate (preview). This is NOT a release that should be put onto a production website.

A release candidate release is a release that is only meant for people to use for testing purposes. What we need from you is just that... A bit of testing.

What Can I Test?

Great question! We thought you might ask, so here is a quick list of things you can test in your own websites.

• Installation on any DNN version, 09.04.00 and higher
• Upgrade from older releases of the module on DNN 09.04.00 and higher
• Multi-Portal Instances
  • Do notifications occur if you're using the global SMTP setting?
  • Do notifications occur if you're using the website (portal) SMTP setting?
• Multi-Portal Instances
  • Do notifications occur if you're using the global SMTP setting?
  • Do notifications occur if you're using the website (portal) SMTP setting?
• After a successful DNN search index...
  • Do the forum posts show in the core DNN search results?
  • If forum posts show, are they the correct ones?
• Create a post with an attachment... Does it work the way you expect?
• When editing a topic, are you able to use the full bar to expand/collapse the sections?
• If you have any soft-deleted users, do they get notified when a thread receives a reply they're on?
• Using a port number in your site alias... Are the URLs used in the forum navigation and notifications correct?
• Move a forum thread from one forum to another... Do both counts get updated correctly?
• Enable full text search... Does it work? Does the setting save?
• Perform any normal administrative task, such as:
  • Create/edit/delete a forum
  • Create/edit/delete a forum thread
  • Create a new forum thread
  • Reply to an existing forum thread
  • Play with the settings in the control panel
