There have already been a few discusstions about which would be the preferred tool to use for testing. We migth need different tools for different purposes (UI, Unit testing, DB, performance, ...).
Here is a starting list of possible candidates:
Pros/Cons/Preferences?
The only experience I have is with Selenium (though not a lot). What I like about it is that you can write tests in a lot of languages and everytinh including the browser IDE browser plugin (to record tests) is OS. I do think that having an IDE is an advantage as it allows the less tech savvy users to create the basis for an automated test (I hope).
Posted By Vicenç Masanas on 28 Jun 2019 02:39 AM I'm not that sure that having and IDE is a benefit here. That forces the user to install yet another IDE. Oposite to that you can user whatever editor you like.
No need to use the IDE, it's just an option. You can use any tool you want to create tests, the IDE is just so you can easily record tests. BTW for Selenium it's just a browser plugin. I'll try to record a demo next week
