Hello everyone.

In the past we have configured succesfully websites ( not DNN) behind WAF and they have worked perfect. Today we are trying to configure a DNN website behind a Microsoft Azure WAF; but it is not working.Basically when accesing the WAF URL it is supposed to display the DNN website and still show in the URL bar the waf URL.

We don´t know why but after accesing WAF URL; the website is Redirected ( it displays the original website in the URL bar).We have configured the alias correctly; but after we make the waf request, the http debug shows:

GET: HTTP/1.1 302 Found

Then the website is redirected to the original URL and it opens.

Does anyone have been able to configure correctly a DNN website behind a Web Application Firewall?

Thank you,

Tatiana.

There shouldn't be any real issues with the use of the WAF, however, there is something that you will have to consider with the portal alias values that is most likely causing the issue.

Since DNN sees the URL as a different URL, you cannot use a "Redirect" alias configuration on the DNN side. As if you set the primary alias to redirect, DNN will often times try to redirect as it thinks that it wasn't the proper URL. Using Canonical or "none" as the mode will often work aroudn this.
