Congrats, your posts are really liked!

Hi Community,

I'm trying to configure the SMTP settings for one of my client's website using Office365.

I'm using the following settings:

  • Server: smtp.office365.com:587
  • Enable SSL
  • Basic authentication with email account and password.

I try to run a test email and I get the error: Unable to read data from the transport connection: An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine.

I already validate user account and password credentials by going into Office 365 itself and I pull out the config values from the configuration section in Outlook web version.

I've been digging in the web for this error but I can quite understand is this something cause by Office or my hosting provider.

If someone has a clue about how to troubleshoot this please let me know.

Regards,

Please note that basic authentication will be deprecated for Exchange Online (I suspect this will cover O365 as well) so perhaps you should look for alternative option, e.g. using certificate based authentication or other SMTP host.
