Hi everyone,

We’ve noticed that some DNN websites are not being indexed properly in Bing. After some investigation, it seems that a possible cause is that canonical links are missing from the page section.

Ideally, each page should include a canonical tag like this:

<code><link rel="canonical" href="https://www.domain.com/current-page-url/" /></code>

However, in our DNN setup this tag is not being generated by default.

My questions are:

  • Why doesn’t DNN include canonical URLs in the by default?
  • Is there a built-in setting in DNN to enable canonical tags for each page automatically?
  • If not, what is the recommended way to add a dynamic canonical URL for each page (based on its unique URL/alias)?
  • Has anyone implemented this in a reliable way (e.g. via skin, module, or SEO extension)?

Any best practices or working examples would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
