Unfortunately for you, not by default. The multi-website or multi-portal architecture assumes that the other websites on the instance are and should be kept from communicating from each other. This is for all of the obvious security, privacy, and usability reasons.

If you wish to search all websites on a single instance of DNN, you'll need to implement a third-party or custom search provider. Many exist out there, but SearchBoost and psSiteSearch might be able to work for you.

Will Strohl is right the search function is working within single portal, you need to go with the custom module or the predefined module
