Hi,

Does anyone know what the installation order of the modules that are installed from the Install/Module folder when installing dnn is based on or what the criteria is? What I really need if anyone knows is that a particular module is installed after another, that is to say I need some way to orchestrate the installation order of the modules.

Regards.

AFAIK, they are installed ascending by package name.

I am not 100% sure but I think the installer might reorder packages based on the dependencies in the manifest, see this document https://www.dnnsoftware.c...manifest-schema.html

Yes in the end I solved it by adding the dependency as follows, thanks for the link.

@Daniel, I think this question is referring to the modules that are automatically installed during the first DNN installation. The modules in the Installed/modules folder have always been processed in alphabetical order. I'm still using that method, so I don't think it has changed.

@DaraCode1, can you clarify the question for us?

@DaraCode1, OK great you solved it. Does the dependency version actually sort the modules into an installation order? I was under the impression that it only stopped the installation of a module, if the dependency module was not installed.

It's a long time since I played with this, maybe it does work by sorting all available modules in the modules folder?

Please let me know and I may change the way I go about first installation of modules.

Yes I was thinking the same thing in fact at first I was testing with which according to the documentation mentioned before should have the same or similar behaviour but had no impact on the order. With if it does order the modules, it installs just after the module it depends on.

Is that a yes, it does sort the modules?

Yes, it orders them.
