Congrats on posting!

Hi -

I just upgraded our website to DNN 9.9.1, and running Links version 7.0.1.

We've seen some issues with user files permissions in the Links module, and I'm wondering if I should upgrade Links.  I see that there are newer versions (7.0.4 and 8.0.0) at GitHub, but don't see anywhere which version to use with DNN 9.9.1.

Does anyone know? Thank you

Tom

You should definitely upgrade as https://github.com/DNNCom.../releases/tag/v8.0.0 has removed all Telerik references. And that's what you want anyway.

Thanks Tycho - I will go ahead and give it a try and see if it fixes the issues.

I went ahead and upgraded to Links 8.0.0 ( on a test website for now) . Looks like it's working.

I do still have the issue I was seeing after the DNN9.9.1 upgrade. The issue is that when the user selects the Link Type: File option, a message comes up: "You don't have permission to see the files on this site." That never happened before I upgraded DNN to 9.9.1. Any idea how I could fix this?

Thanks
Tom

Could it be that you link to files in a folder that has permissions set?

It seems this is occurring in all instances of Links - on several different Portals. I didn't change any permissions when I did the upgrade. I don't know what permissions to look for for the Links module to have access to the folders/files.

Maybe there was a change to the permissions when I upgraded from DNN 9.6.1 to 9.9.1. I haven't seen any issues in any other areas (only the Links module)

Since you're on a newer version of DNN, you should be fine upgrading to the most recent version of the Links module.  In fact, your upgrade process should always include upgrading any third-party/custom/commercial/open-source extensions you have installed (and remove all extensions that are not being used).

Thanks Will, I did upgrade Links to version 8.0.0.

Still seeing the permissions issue though

did you re-save permissions for the (root) folder of your website in Persona Bar > Digital Assets / Ressource Management?
