Congrats on posting!

DNN Platform
v. 09.13.04 (0)
OS Version:
Microsoft Windows NT 10.0.20348.0
Web Server Version:
Microsoft-IIS/10.0
.NET Framework Version:
4.0.30319.42000ASP.NET
(August 2024)

I am unable to use the SMTP service to send messages from my site
Domain is XYZ.COM
Persona Bar > Settings > Servers >Server Settings-SMTP Server
SMTP Server Mode Site Level: Site name for XYZ.COM
SMTP Authentication: Basic
SMTP Server and Port:   mail.hostingservice.com:465
(please note we have tested it with and without the port numbers
we have tested in no ssl mode as well with mail.xyx.com:25 and without)
SMTP User Name: [email protected] and approprate SMTP password
Connection Limit 2
Max Idle Time: 100000
SMTP Enable SSL : ON
(as mentioned have tested using non ssl SMTP server/port)

When setting this up or making changes (using a different domain based email account and pw)
THE FIRST TIME Test SMTP Settings it works ONCE. Message Sent to "[email protected]"
Subsequent tests (either immediately or at some point minutes later) it throws admin log error:

Message:Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: Relay is not allowed

Is there ANYTHING in DNN that could be causing this error?
Is there Any change I can make (use a different account for site administration maybe) to fix this?

Thanks

I'd suggest looking into any logging that might be happening on the SMTP side. DNN does the same thing every time. If that's not possible, I'd suggest switching to an SMTP service that does provide some sort of logging. Not only for now, but you'll have to troubleshoot more mail issues in the future.

DNN is working fine!

I used another smtp server and it works fine. They have something throttled on their end and I've spent enough time on this for now.
Thanks Will
