I don't think I understand your question. Can you please provide more details about what you've done and what you're trying to make happen? 🤔

Congrats, your posts are really liked!

Lee, same as Will; I'm not understanding the question; but I do recognize the "template" word you mentioned; not sure it this is your question about but the template folder it's inside each of the instance folders you have; for example: inside the folder "/portals/0/" you're going to find the templates folder, when you manage the page settings from the persona bar you can create new template files based on the page you're trying to use as a template.

Also, since you're talking about resources and templates you might be also talking about skins; if that's the case you should install new skins from the extensions feature in the persona bar. If you need to customize template files from an existent skin, you should edit those files, create a new version of them by renaming the files, upload and synch out the folders. I usually do this when I need to do a change in an existing template from a skin but I wan to keep the original version just in case.

Hope this helps.

Oh, ok, so those are portal templates. You will find "Blank Website.template" and "Default Website.template" in Portals\_default folder.

Option 1: You can copy one of those files with a different name and open it (just an xml file) to change what you need. This is not pretty and may require a lot of testing and head scratching to figure out what is what.

Option 2: You can make a site starting off from the blank template, do all you want to make the template look like and then export the template from the Sites list. You will see when you hover a site, there is "Import" and "Export" which is a different feature, but the last icon is "Export Template" which is this. You well then have a UI to choose what you want to export or not like specific pages, content, files, roles, etc.

Thanks Daniel
For anyone else trying this, the location where they down load the template is your site URL\Portals\_default as the prompt on the screen is so fast no way can you see it.

It sounds like some introductory resources may be useful for you.

First, it may be a very important first step to take a look at how the DNN theme engine works

Next, I recommend learning how to build a local instance of DNN.

Finally, you can get up and running building your theme:
