We are running DNN 9.9.1, we are aware this version is outdated but due to dependencies on multiple other DNN modules we are still on this version. We are currently encountering the following issue where non-administrator users are redirected to a broken login page when they reset their password. Usually, our Login page looks like this:
This is a custom Login page, with the default Account Login module added to it.
However, after a successful password reset, users are redirected to this Login page:
We currently have no idea where to find the cause of this issue, which makes it also very difficult for us to find the correct solution. Is there anybody who has encountered this issue before or who could help us how we could find the cause of our issue?
Settings - Site settings - Site behavior - default pages is usually where to set the pages.
There is no way to prevent an end-user from attempting to find and navigate to the login page. Honestly, depending on how your website is put together, this is a very low concern use case. The only people that would be doing it are the curious, the nefarious, and the accidents. :)
If you're concerned about covering this use case, I'd recommending creating and using a custom Login page that's specified in the Site Settings. Then, put a HTML (or any structured content) module on the page that helps tell people what to do. In this case, you're want one each for when they're logged in and when they're not. Admins and Superusers will and should see both, but the messaging can help everyone else know what to do.
In the permissions, you'd have "Unauthenticated Users" marked to see the message when not logged in, and "Registered Users" for the message that is seen by those who have logged in. The messaging can of course include links/buttons to help people navigate away.
In the same section, there is 'redirect after login'. So you can redirect to the homepage , a 'my' page, or whatever you like.
