    I have two portals, both with unique favicon.ico files in their base (eg: 0, 20) directories. But DNN will always show the favicon in my DNN root directory. If I test the favicon files by putting them in the DNN root they work so I knwo it's not a file issue. If I ranme/delete the favicon file from the DNN root both sites show no favicon anymore.   I'm on version 9.06

      Check your page source for

       <link rel='SHORTCUT ICON' href='/Portals/0/favicon-01.ico?ver=2023-09-15' type='image/x-icon' >
      or similar and make sure the icons are displayed correctly when you access the href links directly. Favicon caching can be a bit odd with some browsers.

        Just having the favicon in the portals folder isn't enough. You need to also be sure to save the setting in Site Settings, if you haven't already done so. It's not by naming convention, unless a new feature got slipped in that I missed (which does happen). :)

          Also, please note that browsers are notorious for caching Favicons.
          Make sure you test favicons in a private browser window or clear your browser cache.

            When attempting to use the favicon setting in site settings, .ico files don't show up in the file picker, and when I use the upload feature the Save button doesn't light up so I can select the save button. In the site file manager I can't see any .ico files even when I know they are in the selected folder, syncing the folder doesn't help either.

            I can do sql updates so if anyone can share the format for the FavIconPath setting in the portalsettings table I could try updating it via the DB

              Hmm, right. Did you check:

              Security > More > MORE SECURITY SETTINGS > Allowable File Extensions

              to see if the .ico extension is in there?

              If not please add it. :-)
