We installed the Adobe PDF iFilter into the default Evoq search engine several years ago and our PDFs were returning in search results. Apx. 1 year ago, newly added PDFs stopped returning in search results. We've tried re-indexing content and re-installing the iFilter, but this hasn't worked. Any other things we can try?
Thanks Tycho, I've been thinking that for a while - "DNN Sharp Search Boost" seems to be a favorite. Our "powers that be" want to exhaust all options before a paid module. DNN support has recommended several troubleshooting measures so we're working through those (PDF iFilter v.6, checking bit parity settings with our system, manually running search-related scheduled task, if all else fails deleting Lucene's DB and running a re-index via SQL). If those steps fail, Search Boost will very likely be the next thing we try.

:-) Got it. I did the same thing a few years ago...And the same for 5 other modules...
My learnings: if the vendor is trustworthy, buy the module. They are 10 steps ahead of you and everything you come across, they have the answer or can fix it within minutes whereas you (read 'me' :-) ) are struggling for hours and getting frustrated.
I still encourage you to explore the other route but my 2 cents are meant to think of along the way.
If you have an agency of 40 people from which 20 devs and your creating high end, business critical applications where you can not afford to have a less than perfect solution, it is another ball game of course :-)
You will spend more money trhing to fix this instead of going with a quality module. In fact, you probably have done that already.

I have a client with the same issue, they contacted DNN Corp several times. Deleting the lucene index folder content and re-indexing helped a few times, but the problem returned every half year at least. I installed SearchBoost for them now and they are happy. I think it's ridiculous that DNN Corp does not just fix this, but we already spent way too much time on this. Actually PDF search was the last reason for this client to use Evoq, next year I'll upgrade them to DNN platform.
