Form and List Emails

    Hi again! Just me with a continuation of my previous issue....

    Thanks to the help on the forum getting our SMTP settings to work. I am able to send a test email from the Servers page in the settings.

    However, our forms module is not sending emails and I cannot find any logs showing a reason why. I even tried creating a new site and adding the Form and List module to eliminate if it's just our old form having the issue. The new site and form did not send an email either.

     

    Any ideas on where I can look to troubleshoot? Keep in mind that the SMTP settings are working when I send the test email:

      Did you find any error messages in the event logs?

      And just to be sure: did you (double) check the Form and List settings (Page specific settings >> Email settings)?

        I do not see anything in the logs related to an email failure. It looks like we have an announcements module issue but that's pretty consistent even when not testing the email feature.

        Double checked the setting and updated it to my email so I should get it.

          Indeed... When in doubt, look at all available settings.  Something may need to be enabled.  :) 

          I just created this short video to show you how to enable sending of email when the Form & List module is updated.  It seems maybe you just need to scroll down when editing the module configuration view.

            Hey Will,

            I watched the video and I have the same things set up (On New, my email address to send to, SMTP works from the Servers page). However, I am still not getting any messages.

            Any ideas where a log for the module might give me a hint?

              Are you using the latest version of the Form and List module?

                I doubt it based on what I am seeing in the settings. It looks like we're on 6.5.4 but I'm unsure how to upgrade it.

                    Thank you both. The good news is that I was able to upgrade it to 6.5.5 (last release I see on the github following Will's video). I also updated the announcements module that was throwing errors and those seem to have stopped.

                    The bad news is I still don't get an email from the module, but do get a test email from the Servers page. So all in all, I'm in the same spot. No log of a failed email. :(

                      I'm always happy to help.  Have you tried re-saving the settings in the FnL module?  It seems really odd that only that one module may not be sending out emails.  That is, unless you have something in the template of the email that is triggering a firewall in the SMTP service or something.  You should check the logs.  Hopefully, you're using an SMTP provider that allows you to do that.
