DNN- 09.13.03 DNN Comm Forum - 8.1.1  (Thanks for all your hard work on keeping this current john henley and will strohl )

Trying to understand how permissions/users and mapping is accomplished for the fourm so as to avoid issues when switching domain aliases

I have site in progress  for client at xyz.com mapped as primary. After completion the site will have a primary domain of ABC.ORG During Testing I have attached ABC.ORG as an alias. When I log on to ABC.ORG and attempt to use forum (I have admin permissions inplace for account) the forum redirects/logs me off to xyz.com. I have set up a new user/role/permissions for accessing the fourm. It will be semi private.  The user accounts appear in both domains.  Currenlty users are playing around with the fourm and inserting content that needs to be kept. I see in the database that posts are shown based on Portal ID and Module ID. I don't understand how the domains and aliases are mapped. I wish to avoid problems when I change abc.org to primary.

. Thanks G_Papadopolis

G_Papadopolis,

The forums will use the primary portal alias. Domain portion of the URL is not stored and is always re-generated, so if you change the primary, it will be used from that point forward.
