My hosting provider is going to upgrade their windows platform and require all users to upgrade their web apps to ASPNET 5. I'm running a DNN 09.02.02 website on ASP.NET 4.6. Cannot find whether this DNN site can be easily updated to ASPNET 5.

Hopefully, any of you can give me some advise.

Besides NewsArticles no specific extension are currently in use.

    Regards, Victor

Are they upgrading to ASP.NET Core v5?  You should be fine. Are they going to provide a test environment?  If not, are you able to easily create a test environment and test everything?

Windows upgrades for .NET should allow you to run both, but...  You really need to upgrade to at least 9.10 to be more stable and actually benefit from the updated environment.  (Not to mention all of the other typical upgrade benefits.)

Newer versions of DNN run higher versions of .NET too.

Thanks, luckily I have my own test environment. Currently upgrading DNN to test if it works. So far so good.
I made a small mistake in the original post. Hosting provider will require ASPNET 4.8, not 5.

Thanks Will, everything works perfectly! Upgrading was like a walk in the park ;)

To bring a bit more confusion into this discussion: DNN is built on Web Forms (aka ASP.Net Framework). Web Forms are not supported any longer from .Net 5 onwards, and therefore DNN is NOT working on .Net 5 or higher (aka .Net Core, .Net Standard...), as long as there is no transition made (which many of the dev team work on, but is like an open-heart surgery).

            Happy DNNing!
