Hello, In past we were using old DNN version and we shifted to DNN 9.10.02 via fresh install. In which, we compiled the source code with our custom changes in login and logoff file (we needed this to include our login cases). It was sucessful. Now, we are trying to shift to new version of DNN. We tried the official upgrade documetation which worked successfully but it reverted our custom code changes in login and logoff files (as expected) So, again we tried to create a publish package via source code of the newer DNN version (9.11.0 for testing the process) with our custom changes and followed the same approach as before but it seems to be doesnt work and give error of some assemblies present in our current DNN version's web config. I did some research and found that upgrade package cannot be created this way. Tried to look around but found nothing. Would appreaciate if anyone can help with as we do not want to go with fresh install everytime we want to upgrade. Thanks
It sounds like you're attempting to find a way to implement and maintain core code changes. Instead, you should create an Authentication Provider. This would allow you to customize your login/logoff logic nearly any way you wish, AND still allow you to upgrade safely and easier.
Here are some resources that can help you make this happen:
Hopefully, you opt to migrate to a provider approach (it will vastly improve your experience with DNN). If you do, we've built a DNN development framework to help you.
