Congrats on posting!

I'm currently in the process of upgrading an old DNN instance from 9.1.1 through to 10.2.2 and am coming a little unstuck.

Process so far;

First step, upgrade from 9.1.1 to 9.13.9

  1. Backup 9.2.2 files and DB
  2. Create a new website instance, restore DB and copy over files
  3. Edit web config
  4. Start copied site (DNNv2), all looks good.
  5. Download DNN_Platform_9.13.9_Upgrade zip, unblock and then extract files.
  6. copy files over DNNv2
  7. Visit/Install/UpgradeWizard.aspx and run the upgrade
  8. DNNv2 site looks good and the upgrade seems to have gone without a hitch.

Now I move on to upgrade to 10.2.2

  1. I create a whole new instance (DNNv3)
  2. backups DB and files for DNNv2 and resore these to DNNv3
  3. edit web config
  4. Start the site
  5. This time, it keeps redirecting me to the upgrade URL

Now, when I look at the Db table Version of both instances, I can see that this hasn't updated, with the latest entry showing as 9.9.1 with a date in 2021. I assume this mismatch with the DLL is what is triggering the site to redirect to the upgrade URL.

Has anyone else come across this issue or am I doing something wrong with my upgarde to cause this?

Can I repair the existing DNNv2 or DNNv3 instances I have created and carry on with the upgrade path, or do I need to start back from scratch?

Any advice you have to offer would be greatly appreciated here.

Congrats, your posts are really liked!

I understand its not what you are looking for, but its possible the problem is that you are not following the DNN Platform Suggested Upgrade Path. From 9.1.1, you should first upgrade to 9.3.2, then to 9.13.9, skip 9.13.10, upgrade to 10.2.1, then 10.2.2.

Hi Jeremy, thanks for your response. I've just re-read my original post and can see ive added confusion to the issue by stating some incorrect facts.

The starting version is 09.09.01

So, following the prescribed upgrade path, we should be correct in moving to 09.13.09

What Jeremy said, go to 10.2.1 first, from there make sure you use the new upgrade process https://docs.dnncommunity...st-10.2.0-steps.html instead of extracting the zip and copying the files over. You will upload the zip directly in DNN and DNN will handle setting up the upgrade for you and send you to the upgrade wizard when done. We have built that new upgrade process to try and help with dll conflicts and other things we can do to make upgrades easier.

Thanks for your help, folks.

I've attempted a fresh upgrade as suggested, going through the correct upgrade path, and have got stuck going from - 09.13.09 to Version 10.02.01. I'll create a fresh post as i belive my original title and summary of the situation isn't clear or related to this issue.
