I deleted 2scx content module and somehow it break dnn. was unable to get to any site. page keeps loading....
I restored the DB and desktopmodules folders back and did not seem to work.
my next option is to restore the entire DNN files directory as it possible for this module to have files elsewhere located.

That specific module has several underlying dependencies.  If you uninstall it and run into errors, you'll want to look at which errors are occurring by checking the Log4Net log file.  Most likely, there is either a wrong version of a DLL in the Bin, missing DLL from the Bin folder that another module is expecting, or an orphaned reference in the web.config file.  :)

Just in case it helps, here's a video that should help you get to know the Log4Net file a bit better.

do you know what directories the module files are stored in beside desktopmodules?

As I read from one of your posts on page 1 (and afair the Effority User Directory module):

App_Code\effority.UserDirectory\Controller.vb

you should check if the folder effority.EserDirectory was removed after uninstalling the module (it should, but better check).

Happy DNNing!

Sorry for the typo. Should read "effority.UserDirectory" of course...

I am receiving this error and sites loading slow
DotNetNuke.ComponentModel.ProviderInstaller - System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorsException: Could not load provider iFinity.DNN.Modules.UrlMaster.DNNFriendlyUrlProvider, iFinity.UrlMaster.FriendlyUrlProvider

any idea of what is causing this?

It sounds like you once installed the URL Master module. Since that's built into DNN now, it would be best to uninstall it. This would get rid of that exception.

Yes, what Timo said. Much of it is in the web.config. If the free version was used, you may need to also manually remove the related DLL from the bin folder (after saving and testing the config change).
