Upgrading DNN Software always starts the same way. You sit there, coffee in hand, trying to act like a responsible adult. You’ve read the release notes (mostly). You’ve triple-checked the backups. You tell yourself this is “just another upgrade.”
But deep down, it feels exactly like being a child on Christmas Eve.
The download finishes, and suddenly your heart beats a little faster. What’s inside this new version? Better performance? Fewer bugs? That one annoying thing finally fixed after years? You resist the urge to click Upgrade too quickly, just like you once tried not to shake the wrapped presents under the tree.
When the upgrade starts, time stretches. The progress bar crawls forward with unbearable suspense. You stare at the screen the way you once stared at the clock, counting down the minutes until you were allowed to wake your parents. Please don’t break. Please don’t break.
And then—success.
The site comes back online. Pages load. Logs are clean. Nothing is on fire. You click around, smiling at tiny improvements that only you will ever notice. It feels like unwrapping that one perfect gift—the one you hoped for but weren’t sure you’d get.
For a brief moment, everything is shiny, new, and full of promise. Tomorrow you’ll deal with extensions, edge cases, and that one user who swears something is different.
But right now?
Right now, it’s Christmas morning. Under the tree is Release v10.3.1 · dnnsoftware/Dnn.Platform, pls read The New DNN Upgrade Process
What a fun read - thanks for sharing this sentiment and experience! 😊
