Hi' Community
We use DNN 9, and have recently upgraded to DNN 9.13.8

Now, we can see, that DNN 10 is here.

Question is; Will DNN 9 be continued to be security maintained?

And if Yes; For how long?

HI Michael!

I've been around DNN for several years now and all the new updates, bug fixes, etc. are done and implemented in the newest DNN versions, this means that the community doesn't focus on certain DNN versions to continue providing updates/support under the same DNN version for an X period of time, all the new and cool stuff comes in the latest DNN version you're going to find on GitHub, this is the reason why you will always find the DNN Guru's behind this great platform recommending to all the community to get our websites into the latest DNN version.

Regards.

Marco is right, and the reasons for this approach is that this is a community project with many people working for free.
DNN is very secure and in the past if a major security breach is found it will be announced that you must update to a certain version to be secure.
At the moment we continue to run DNN9 and I am not concerned about any security problem. I think running DNN9 should still be counted as secure for now. Of course the best approach is to upgrade minor version if you can. In the case of major versions, like DNN10, we always wait for inhouse testing to give the OK before we use it.

Thank you both for your inputs - they are appreciated :)
We will take those into consideration - trusting the secureness of latest DNN 9 for now, and looking into scheduling the preparations for moving to DNN 10.

Regardless of whether or not DNN 9 continues to receive security updates and for how long, now is a great time to ensure that you have a relationship with any DNN-centric agency you find that can support you in the future.
