This post provides a summary update of DNN Technology Group meetings held over the past two weeks, ending 11/25/2025.

My last post talked about a new community effort to bring an MVC pipeline to DNN Platform.  As you may know, that could really open a door to a transition to .NET, as sites may no longer need to have any dependency on .NET Framework.  For this to happen, we have a LOT of things that we need to discuss, and this post is just one of my first posts, sharing some of the ideas, questions, and thoughts that I have of how we might be able to make this transition a reality.

It has been just about 5 years since my last overall update blog post was shared regarding DNN Platform, high-level technology needs, and future roadmap items. A lot has happened over these years, both for DNN itself, our community, and technology as a whole.  We have accomplished many of the goals that were outlined at that time, and we have some great new efforts by various DNN Community members that we need to revisit, embrace, and see where they will take the DNN Platform in the coming years.

The DNN Community has received a great gift from the team at Cantarus that will help to add better deployment scenarios to DNN Platform that support enterprise application structures.

A little over a year ago I wrote a blog DNN, .NET Core & .NET 5 which was a follow-up to my article from 2018 DNN, .NET Core, and the Road Ahead. Over the two years since the first post was authored, we have seen incredible change within the DNN Platform as well as the entire .NET ecosystem. As we continue to progress forward with the DNN Platform project it is important for us to validate the technical future and ensure that we are progressing in a manner that is aligned to the best possible future for our project.

The DNN Platform has been plagued by some past decisions with regards to third-party component inclusion.  We, as a community, have achieved a milestone that will finally allow us to move beyond those past limitations and focus on a brighter and more secure future!

Open-source software is a part of everyday life in 2020, however, many users of open-source don't truly understand what they are getting by using an open-source project.  Lets explore how open-source projects are managed, and optionally funded, and how we can be better open-source consumers.

A lot has changed in the past 18 months with DNN Platform, and not all of that change has been given the attention that it should.  This post is a round-up of major activity out of the Technology Group for the past 18 months and showcases information about the future.
