Server Error in '/' Application. Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Please provide some more information. Does this happen on a new (clean) installation or after an upgrade? Which DNN version, or on an upgrade from which version to which version? Or did you change anything else on an existing site?

Michael, it's an old installation, version 9.0. It's not an upgrade nor new installation. I made no changes from the old running website in the old sever, except the ConnectionString in the web.config that points to the new server, and the binding entries in the IIS, and the physical path where the website folder is located in the IIS. The error occurred at the start of the execution of the website immediately after I made the transfer.

are the correct permissions set in the new database (AppPool identity or SQL Server Login)?

I agree with Michael, please check file system permission for the IIS website folder and make sure, write and delete permissio are granted to the IIS App Pool user (used by the .Net application to access the file system).
