Congrats on posting!

DNN Platform: 10.00.01 (attempted in-place upgrade to 10.01.01)
Behavior: No installer errors reported, but editing any HTML/Pro module and clicking “Update” crashes the site. The server then prompts Visual Studio Just-In-Time debugging (VS tries to attach to w3wp). Front-end recovers after app pool recycles.

probably attempt again today.

There is no HTML/Pro on DNN Platform, I guess you are on evoq?

If so, either:
- You can't just install the Platform upgrade package on it as they do customizations, so you need to get upgrades from them.
- Or you have already migrated from Evoq to Platform but there are some leftovers from Evoq still in place.

I don't see an Update button in the normal html module usage, where do you see that?
We need a bit more info in order to help, can you list exact steps to recreate the issue and also provide some logs, if it tries to attach to the debugger, you probably have visual studio installed, so you could accept and check if you see any exceptions there. You can also check the Site Logs or the log files at Portals\_default\logs for potential clues.
