Congrats on posting!

Hi, I'm testing the upgrade process from DNN 9.9.1 to 9.13.3. After upgrading, I'm seeing an issue with Module Settings, for evey type of module. When I select Settings, nothing happens and a Critical Error is thrown.

I thought I would ask whether anyone else has encoutered this issue, what might have caused it, and any concerns about it.

Thanks

-Tom

In Admin logs there is an error message (but I get blocked when I try to add it here) . It says it requires a script resource mapping for jquery.

I Googled this and found this page: https://stackoverflow.com...emapping-for-jquery.

Before testing that solution I thought I would ask whether anyone else has encoutered this issue, what might have caused it, and any concerns about it.

I have never seen this, is it on all modules or just 1 type of module. I've upgraded a number of DNN9 to the latest (maybe not the specific version 9.9.1) and it always has worked.
The security will be stopping you from posting the error here, take a screen shot clip of the error and post the image.

You should not need to do the suggested fix per stack overflow. Have you looked at the logs folder to see if something failed during upgrade? My suspect is always security/anti-virus software. How is the site hosted?

Thanks for your replies. Yes, the error happens when selecting Settings for any module. Here is a link to the screenshot of the error:

I didn't see any issues in the upgrade when it was completed, or in Admin Logs. The site is hosted on Windows Server 2019, IIS version 10 (1809), .NET 4.7.3190. Should I look in Portals/_default/Logs? What should I look for there?
I tried adding the app settings tag with the "ValidationSettings:UnobtrusiveValidationMode" key (as suggested as StackOverflow), and it does fix the issue.
Thanks again for any insight.

I don't see anything unusual in the InstallerLog20240722.resources log file (the upgrade log)

How old is the site? I know you said you previously had 9.9.1 installed, but did you have DNN versions prior to that? What is the value of the targetFramework attribute in httpRuntime in web(dot)config ?

Thanks for responding. Yes it's an old site, started under DNN 7 I believe. The target Framework setting is "4.7.2"

Was the 9.9.1 site actually working on this machine before you upgraded it, or did you copy it from another machine to do the upgrade?

Congrats on posting!

This site (files & database) was copied from our production server (running DNN 9.9.1) and launched on our test server, which was set up to match our production settings, before upgrading to 9.13.3 for testing purposes.

When running at 9.9.1 it did not have the Module Settings error. Before I did the upgrade, I removed and upgraded a few modules, and did a Telerik removal (https://docs.dnncommunity...removal/index.html).
I'm not sure, but it's possible the Module Settings error started after the Telerik removal and I just didn't see it until after doing the upgrade.
