Hi all - still getting to grips with DNN.  When I allocate a new role to an existing user DNN auto generates an email, telling the user that they can contact an email addrress should they have any difficulties.
I can't see how the email is generated, and I want to change the message.  Can this be done?

Thanks, Rich

Hi Rich,

You sure can. But yeah, it is kinda hidden.
You need to go to the language files (site settings - languages) and click on the icon that should represent multi language but looks more like some asian character.
Then you need to select a source file - global sources - global resources and CTRL-F your way to the desired text to translate

Here is a short video that helps describe how to use the language editor to edit any static text in DNN (that's localized).

We should not forget to mention that you should not overwrite the original GlobalResourses file as this will be overwritten by the next update. To avoid this, choose either "Host" (for all portals in your installation) or "Site" (for the current portal only) from the Radio Buttons labeled "Mode" at the top of the language editor.

And just to be complete: When you don't want to send the email, there is a little checkbox on the screen where you assign a role to a user. Just deactivate it...

Happy DNNing!

Congrats, your posts are really liked!

You're going to find three language files related to Roles under this address whitin the Translation language file section in DNN,

"Local Resources -> DesktopModules -> Admin -> Security -> App_LocalResources"

Hope this saves you some time.

Rich,

we're happy to help if possible... And agreed: This is an excellent community built in over 20 years, a lot of common experience and knowledge, and everyone is willing to share.

Have a look at the events. In the USA, DNN Summit is in February 2024, and in Europe, DNN Connect in May in Switzerland. Join, if you have time. It is always nice to meet the Community irl.

Happy DNNing!
Michael
