    Hi

I'm such a fan of DNN that I'm starting to use it to build management systems for myself and my clients that run on a local PC.

I'm experiencing something I find quite bizarre, it loads and run noticeably slower that external websites. Incidentally I experience the same for my hosted websites if I run them on my hosting platform. It takes longer to run "inside" a PC that it does to run it across the Internet.

(Related) I also have built a DNN Intranet at work and again it's slower to work than any external website.

This seems quite bizarre - am I missing a trick somewhere.

Any help / thoughts gratefully received

    Dave

there is no particular reason, DNN would be slow on a local machine - I use it for testing on local VMs without issue.
You need to keep in mind to provide sufficient memory to your machine (4 GB would be absolute minimum) and if SQL Server is running on the same machine, make sure to limit Memory for it to max. 50% of your RAM - SQL Server tends to eat all memory for caching.
Next, have a look at advanced settings of tje IIS AppPool hosting your Website: it should not be recycled after 20 min of inactivity (default) and should suspend, not terminate, when being paused. Make sure that only one worker process is assigned.
You should as well check Windows event log and DNN event log for frequent errors - which slow down the system as well.
Btw: are you running latest version of DNN (as you should)?
