These two links should be helpful:

DNN Platform Upgrades -- DNN Docs

DNN Platform Suggested Upgrade Path -- DNN Docs

Best way to do this is to create a testing environment, after each step make sure that all the extensions (modules, skins...) work correctly, upgrade those when necessary, backup and go to the next step.

Write down what you have upgraded in every step, and when everything works fine, upgrade the production site(s).

DNN version 4.0.2 is very very old, and upgrading could be a pain - maybe it's better to set up a clean installation with DNN 9.9.1 and migrate the old site.

      Happy DNNing!

        Thanks Michael,

I already upgraded (from version 6) to version 9.0.1, but the Purplemet scan still pickup some version 4.0.2 CMS.

could you please elaborate, where you are seeing a "4.0.2" version - that might be version number of an extension, not the DNN platform itself. how does your Admin UI look like (provide a Screenshot or describe it)

On the new menu on the left

            • DNN PLATFORM
            • v. 09.01.01 (129)
            • 4.6

now I am totally confused - if you are on DNN 9.1.1 - where do you see "4.0.2"?
Current version of DNN Platform is 9.9.1 and you should upgrade for security reasons.
but, be careful - DNN 9.2.0 introduced a number of breaking changes - start with cleanup of unused extensions (modules, skin, containers, providers) and full backup of files and the database. Check remaining extensions for compatibility with later versions and available upgrades.

And, to add some upgrading thoughts ...

Use the DNN Upgrade Path: https://www.dnndocs.com/c...rade-path/index.html

Read Will Strohl's notes on upgrading: https://upendoventures.co...fFWORY4aAmT8EALw_wcB

Regardless of the upgrade path, BE SURE TO READ ALL of the release notes starting for all of the DNN Versions between where you are now and where you are going on the next upgrade step. Especially in the mid 9.x versions, there are lots of notes an cautions. They even apply to intermediate versions you are skipping. So ... READ and ask questions about things that you don't understand.

As you proceed along that upgrade pate, make backups at every step. You may need to back up one step now and again to fix something that you missed.

                  Thanks everyone!

I removed all the old (not in use) modules.
But, I need to know how to update the following module
                  -DNNspot Sitemap
                  -AdvancedAudioPlayer
                  -Live Accordion

I also search inside all files in the website directory (I searched for version 4.0.2),
my question is how do I update module mobiNuke?

You could either add a space after the opening and before the closing angle bracket, or use square brackets instead...

Anyway, these seem to be third-party extensions, therefore you should ask the vendor(s) for upgrades - if they still exist on the market. Otherwise you should look for a replacement.

                      Happy DNNing!
