Hello Team,

Here are couple of observations where there’s a difference in the current site manager in comparison to the old one:

  1. We can no longer bulk select the files in one go and delete them. Now we have to rather delete the folder itself adding to one additional step.
  2. When a file is uploaded in the site assets, the parent folder on the left collapses and goes blank. We need to re-expand to go to the their respective folders.
  3. It takes time to view the data on the right once we click the respective folder on the left and hence creates confusion.
    1. This in turn at time shows the count of files at the bottom of the tool as “Showing undefined of undefined items”
  4. We can no longer copy a file to another folder which in turn has increased an additional step of downloading and reuploading the file to required folder.

Are we planning re-inlcude these or sort them out?

Regards,

Niyati

Congrats on posting!

As a community, we had to replace the built-in file management module very quickly.  As I remember it, a giant amount of effort among David Poindexter, Daniel Valadas, and others was performed to get you the free replacement module that you see now, which contains no known security issues.  (The previous one had the old Telerik in it.)

Later, some great improvements were also added by Jeremy Farrance, which we're all enjoying today, assuming you've been upgrading.

Okay, enough of the history lesson, and thank you to everyone who has donated their valuable time to this critical feature...

Now that we all know a bit more about this feature, please know that we all would like for it to have these and other features.  However, we're a 100% open-source volunteer community.  So, here's what I'd suggest to you and everyone else for any "missing" feature in DNN...

  1. The first step is to look for these issues in GitHub.
  2. If the feature/issue you're looking for doesn't exist already, create a new issue.

If you need any of these features right away and can't wait, there are numerous qualified people in this community who are willing to do the work as a sponsored project/effort.  All you need to do is ask.  I'd suggest starting with the Agencies page here on this site.  Short-list a few you're willing to work with, and interview them to see if there's a match in need and budget.

I hope this helps, and good luck!  😁💪🏽
