    Hi Everyone!

Pretty new to the DNN world, I apologize if this has been addressed in a previous topic (I tried searching).

After installing DNN 9 I don't appear to have the Module Creator extension that is shown at the link below and listed as available on the open source platform: https://www.dnnsoftware.c...-module-creator.html

Was this removed prior to the launch of DNN 9? Is it possible to pull this extension from anywhere online or is there an alternative Module/extension that is a recommended replacement?

We'd really like to build our own (simple) modules for content without having to use Visual Studio or another IDE.

    Thanks!

I am not sure... But the documentation you link to goes to EVOQ, which is the commercial product of DNN Corp. It is based on the DNN Platform, which is the free and Open Source software driven by the community here.

I remember vaguely that something like this has been part of former free editions, but I never used it (as I found it usable only for "Hello World!" modules anyway). Visual Studio is the much better choice.

      Happy DNNing!

This was a part of both DNN Platform and Evoq.  The only reason you see it in the Evoq documentation is because they were inheriting it from DNN itself.  It existed before the Evoq product was announced, since the DNN Professional days, I believe.

Since then, this feature has had little to no usage by various people in the community.  Due to that, and the fact that is allows someone to see and modify some source code, it was removed because of security concerns.

If you still want to use the Module Creator, you can.  It's been moved to its own open-source repository.

Thanks Will - I remembered vaguely, as I said, but I never used it (really). So I was not sure if I saw it on an EVOQ demo or somewhere in my environment.

          Happy DNNing!
