I use an older version of DNN 08.00.04 because the webhost server I think is not compatible with the newer versions. I've used DNN for a long time and have built several websites.  Now when I try to edit my websites, I am able to log in but as soon as I try to edit, the icon just circles round.  It is very frustrating.  I'm not a developer - just an individual with a bit of history at building my own websites.

I think that I used to be able to just type in the http website address and log in that way, and edit without any real problems. But now even if I use a link provided by the webhost, or alternatively type in http: with the web address, it defaults to https.  DNN at least the version I use, does not any longer allow editing via https

I tried pausing Cloudflare - but then when I search for the website it says that it isn't available, may have moved, or no longer exists!

I have no alternative as far as upgrading DNN- because as stated, it won't work with my web host. Is there any solution? Can anyone assist?

I'm not sure you have much choice here.  Part of the reason to upgrade DNN is to also remain compatible with the various updates that Windows receives over time as well.  You really need to upgrade DNN, which means also upgrading your hosting plan.  I wouldn't suggest running anything in public on a version so old - for that and so many more reasons.  Even if you were to get past this issue, which I don't think you can without upgrading, you'll just run into something else right after.  :(
