Make a copy of the existing DNN installation and get it running in a test environment. Then, delete all of the "other" portals. Move that installation to the new server. You could move first and then delete, too.

Now, as you have DNN 5.6, you really should deal with that. You are out of date by over a decade if my memory is correct. So, PLEASE, if this is an important website, do upgrade it to DNN 9.6.1. DO IT NOW!

As for exporting a site, there is an option that includes content. So you can follow that option. But, doing that with DNN 9.6.1 is so much better. There were issues with ancient versions. And, the current version will move users if that is also important.

DNN is a perfectly respectable CMS.

Like most software, there are occasional issues ... after all it's a complex bit of code. But there is an active community organized around the project, with frequent releases that solve issues AND add to functionality.

It's a great tool!

As for comparisons to other CMS, Google and read the introductory material at dnncommunity.org.

- did you grant permissions for the new website folder to IIS AppPool user?
- did you adjust permission string in web.config?
- did you make sure, website address is listed in PortalAlias table in the database?

Please don't post non-related links!
